Social Media Community Guidelines

The Calgary West Central Primary Care Network (CWC PCN) is active on social media and we welcome your comments and encourage you to openly discuss and share your opinions. Help us foster a community of respect and inclusion by following our social media terms of use:
- Treat others online as you would treat them in real life.
- Be tolerant towards others’ viewpoints; respectfully disagree when opinions do not align.
- Respect the privacy and personal information of others.
- Communicate with courtesy and respect.
We encourage open dialogue and empower you to connect with others on our social media platforms. To keep everyone safe, note that our moderator will periodically review activity on our online communities to ensure appropriate use.
We reserve the right to remove users and delete posts that are in violation of the guidelines.
Inappropriate conduct includes:
- Posting content, making comments and sharing links that contain:
- violence, obscenities, profanity
- hate speech or prejudice
- disparaging language
- advertisements or solicitation (unless pre-approved by the moderator)
- sensitive information about the organization
- Disrespecting others:
- making defamatory comments, threats, insults
- harassment
- sharing personal or sensitive information about other users, patients or CWC PCN staff members
- spamming others (repetitive posts that are copied and pasted or duplicated by single or multiple users)
- pushing forward a political or other agenda that is off-topic and not related to the original post or discussion stream
- Violating legislation:
- Depicting or engaging in illegal activity (Criminal Code)
- Protected Human Rights
- Copyright/trademark infringement
Inappropriate conduct may result in the removal of your comment(s) and/or blocked access to our online communities. We encourage you to report harmful content or disrespectful conduct by contacting Communications.
Social Media Privacy Notice
The CWC PCN engages with the public on social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Please remember that these platforms are public, and we advise against sharing personal or health information.
No Medical Advice
The CWC PCN’s social media channels do not provide medical advice. For specific health concerns, contact a healthcare professional directly.
Data Collection and Use
The CWC PCN may collect publicly shared information, (e.g., comments or messages) to respond to inquiries or improve services. All information collected through our social media platforms is handled in compliance with Alberta’s Health Information Act (HIA) and Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Collected information is used to monitor engagement, improve content, and support public health communications. Your personal information will not be used for any other purposes without your explicit consent unless required by law.
Public Nature and Third-Party Platforms
By interacting with us on social media, you acknowledge that your shared information is public and can be viewed by others. Third-party platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn host our social media sites, and their privacy policies govern how your information is handled. These platforms have privacy policies and practices that the CWC PCN does not control. We encourage you to review their privacy policies to understand how they handle your information.
